Ralph J. Bays
Mr. Bays, a research engineer with Armco Steel Corp., was on a business trip to a trade show in Kansas City with a co-worker, passenger Boxwell. Mr. Bays was never positively identified, and his name was not immediately released to the public, due to his father's serious illness at the time.
He had been assigned to TWA flight 69, but had transferred to Flight 853.
Mr. Bays had graduated from Lemon-Monroe HS in 1955, and joined Armco that year as a mail-room clerk. Upon graduation from the University of Cincinnati in 1965, he was promoted to research engineer.
He left behind his wife, Sondra, and children Sherry, Cynthia, and Robert.
